cineMINDS is a project of ZHdK in cooperation with the University of Zurich. ZHdK alone is responsible for processing your personal data. Please send questions about data protection to admin@cineminds.net.
This policy covers the websites cineminds.net (also reached as www.cineminds.net) and app.cineminds.net together with the services they use. It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
We use no cookies. Settings such as the language stay in your browser.
On cineminds.net we count visits with Umami, which runs on our own server in Nuremberg. It sets no cookie and does not store your IP address; it uses it only briefly to determine the country and city and to recognise repeat visits within a day. We see which pages are visited and when, with which browser and device, from which country and city, and which page you came from. Browsers that send Do Not Track are not counted. The data contains no names or email addresses and is kept without a time limit. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding how the website is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
app.cineminds.net uses no visit statistics.
When you open one of the websites or play a video, our servers and service providers process the technically necessary data: IP address, time, the address requested, browser and operating system. This serves operation, security and troubleshooting. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the service securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
When you ask a question on app.cineminds.net:
The purpose is to answer your question and to improve the archive; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in doing so (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
When you sign up through the form on www.cineminds.net, we store your name, organisation, email address, reason and language so that we can review the request and notify you. A shortened part of your IP address is stored as well, to recognise abuse. You receive a confirmation by email. The legal basis is your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
The contact forms on www.cineminds.net and app.cineminds.net send your name, email address, message and language as an email to the project's mailbox. They are not stored in a database. The emails are sent through Hostpoint (Switzerland) and kept there.
With providers in the USA, data reaches a country whose data protection does not always match Swiss or European standards. There we use providers that offer recognised safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses or the Data Privacy Framework.
There is no fixed deletion period for the data described here. We keep it as long as the project needs it and delete it at your request, unless an obligation to keep it applies.
You can ask what data we hold about you and have it corrected or deleted. Under the GDPR you also have the right to restrict or object to its processing and to receive your data in a common format. Contact admin@cineminds.net for any of this. You can also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or with a data protection authority in the EU.
We update this policy when the websites change. The version published here applies.
